I’m riding a bus through the Andes right now and there are endless varieties of mountains. The colors, shapes and structures are fascinating. Some are covered in a vivid green grass, short and plentiful…some are covered in a yellow, longer and lighter grass which dances in the wind…and some are covered in a mix of the two tones with a harsh black rock sprinkled with snow which seemed to sprout from the lushness below. Some mountains are jagged claws ripping through the sky’s rooftop while others are rounded supple mounds calmly and quaintly existing. Sometimes the clouds cast a shadow completely altering the look below for just awhile…but after a gust of wind the cloud rolls past and the appearance reverts back…all of these mountains are so perfect in every way.
I see so many different kinds of animals…the babies are of course the ones that break my heart…baby llamas with their smushed face, they look like what you would want to do to their face because they’re so cute but somebody got to it first…piglets…need I say more? Baby donkeys with their perfectly soft, spikey and brown hair, attempting their best version of a graceful gallop…little sheep that look so clean because they haven’t been exposed to the environment and their coats are so fluffy, like they were just taken out of the dryer…baby goats, now these were Jessica’s absolute favorite animals next to our pups so they have a special place in my heart…the way they prance, gallop and jump is just so adorable and innocent…I told Jess that I would buy her one once we had our part-time life setup in Costa Rica. All of these little creatures are so perfect, no exceptions.
Rivers of different lengths, widths, depths, calmness and rapids…some trickling through the land, separating at several different points then coming together…or just one strong wide and scary mass of water trudging through the rock and tearing away more and more every year. Different shades of colors ranging from dark green/almost black to perfectly clear and everything in between…all so, so perfect.
Terrains..rocky and jagged earth aggressively portraying its dangerous character…or a green, lush and tranquil mass of life sprawling into every nook and cranny soaking up the sun’s life force and continuing to expand right before you very eyes…rolling hills that seem delighted to be making their way outwards…dusty, dirty and messy terrain which causes everything it touches to mimic the filth…and land as flat as the eye can see making you question your past and your future…all of these terrains are so very perfect.
Clouds of all different shapes and sizes…robust puffy clouds straight out of children’s books that are so white they seem to glow with an internal spirituality…flat, grey and grumpy clouds on the brink of an emotional breakdown…light wisps of clouds that seem to be fleeting from themselves or a painters mistake…absolute perfection.
Skies representing every blue tone imaginable then morphing into grays, greens and the soul warming reds, oranges and yellows with the sun’s arrival and departure…true perfection.
There’s so much beauty in this world…there’s just so much beauty that it overwhelms me emotionally at times. Every single individual example of the existence in which the object represents is perfect…10,100 or a thousand different versions of a pine tree, mountain, animal, river etc…it doesn’t matter…they’re all perfect.
Mountains will crumble, clouds will transform, the landscapes will be reborn with fire, the animals will age, rivers will switch direction, and the skies will forever change color…but no matter what happens…they will always be perfect…because everything on God’s earth is perfect just as it is…everything…especially us.
