Life Tests Us for a Reason

They always say that tough times throughout life are tests. They are intentional, and for many reasons. They test your wisdom, courage, strength, love, focus, faith, bravery, integrity and your relationships. After things settle down and you look at your marks after the fact, the strong will expect to see better marks in all of those areas. Maybe they had a B- in courage but now it’s an A-. I personally had a C- in my faith class before Jessica and I were tested but now I think I’m hovering around a B+/A-.

I also think that when it comes to relationships that tests and exams through difficult times are very necessary. I have an analogy about life and it’s tests.

Life is survival. Our relationships throughout life are like a large migrating herd of buffalo, and our herd is made up of family and friends. The lions are the tests, they look for weakness…they stalk the herd…they formulate a plan on how to break it apart and ultimately kill a member. The weak ones will not survive. Nor should they, they need to die…I know it’s morbid but that’s life. They need to die to make the herd’s attributes stronger. Once they parish the herd is faster, stronger and will survive longer. They make the herd’s wisdom, courage, strength, love, focus, faith, bravery and integrity stronger…much stronger. My herd is lighter and it’s a blessing.
