I Miss Healthy Food

The best thing about owning a health & wellness company and being married to an amazing health coach is that I learned so very much about living a healthier lifestyle. Over the years I’ve changed my lifestyle into an extremely healthy one, and I owe it all to my sweet wife, Jessica Marie. For the past 6 years I have been putting organic, non GMO, non preservative, clean, local and super powerful substance into my system…and now my body has become accustomed to this kind of fuel. Don’t get me wrong, I have my fun too…but typically I like sticking to the paleo/ketogenic diet. No grains (or gluten free), lots of veggies, bit of fruit, some good fats and clean protein.

Now that I’m traveling through South America and at the will of what they eat, I have been sick more in the last 7 weeks than I have over the last 6 years. It’s been very difficult to say the least, many bed ridden days with a bathroom not too far away. I haven’t been able to work out because of this and my tight traveling schedule as well. We have a tendency back home, which is completely normal, to take things for granted…and in the US we are truly blessed to have pretty much whatever we want whenever we want it, including the healthiest and cleanest food in the world. We might have to do a little leg work trying to source this food at first and take some time to educate ourselves on what is truly good for our bodies, but it’s available nonetheless. As some people know there are quite a few corporations out there trying to deceive us…but we can find the facts and make educated decisions. Jessica was at the forefront of this battle and she would be shocked at some of the levels of deception and brain washing out here. Here in South America for example, some restaurants don’t even sell water…only Coca Cola and/or their competitors. Unbelievable. Vegetables are basically non existent, especially any kind of leafy green…which are my favorites. A typical plate of food consists of rice,

, plantains, maybe a potato or two and some protein…if you’re lucky it will include 2 slices of tomato and a sprinkle of chopped iceberg lettuce. It’s a starchy carb overload with no veggies or greens to help balance the meal out. Now that’s a cultural thing…which I cannot complain about…but for me and my system it makes things difficult.

This as you can see is a constant battle for me…for my body, my mental health, my energy levels, my physique and my overall health & wellness…especially given what I’m already dealing with emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I miss my routine, I miss my healthy lifestyle with my personal health coach & inspirational wife…and I miss feeling healthy. Like Jess used to say “Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.” God Bless her for guiding, helping and educating so many people how to be healthy…how to be happy.
