Time for Me

Since beginning my journey north, my routine has become non existent…actually driving through different countries and exploring their most notable qualities is pretty much the exact opposite of the routine I once enjoyed in Nosara. I have begun to notice the formation of an altogether different routine making itself known…such as the exploration of the natural beauty within a destination, soaking up the culture, trying new food and drink and my favorite part…crossing paths with others on a journey of their own. The tendency to run into like minded travelers…all heading in uncertain directions with unwritten adventures yet to unfold is fuel for the soul…something I’ve truly come to appreciate.

Most have wonderful stories of adventure and more likely than not the best tales told are when things go awry. People speak of past stays within numerous destinations and you pick out advice like fruit from a market…listening and contemplating on what the best future pinpoint on your map will be. You hear stories on what to avoid and what’s a must…usually both and everything between from many different personalities…which always makes deciding on what to undertake next even more confusing…I mean fun:) Accounts of far off ventures told like tall tales around a campfire that make the eyes widen with excitement and the heart beat faster with the anticipation of living out a similar fantasy of your own. Many people weaving in and out of your day and life, some just for a quick chat over coffee, some sharing a ride across country and some jointing you indefinitely throughout your travels.

Your new friend…or two/three/four will join together for a quick chapter while touring…providing companionship, comfort through personal struggles and a moment where two or more souls share space and grow fonder of each other in very spiritually respectful way.

One thing is certain, everyone has a story of what called them to escape, broaden horizons, soul search or just tour the world. People sick of the corporate world traveling for weeks and figuring out how prolong their departure…vacationers attempting to decompress from “normal life” for a few weeks…ones with no end goal, starting somewhere and continuing indefinitely (which blows my mind in a good way)…hitchhikers making their way through a region…cyclists literally touring the world for years…spiritual souls enriching their lives through God's creation…volunteers living abroad and spending time in country to country donating their time…expats who travel in order to search for their next home base and not be be forgotten the grieving husband driving home while trying to make sense of life, love, loss & faith.

So many different spirits making their way around God's beautiful earth looking for something. From what I’ve noticed, the moments, times, occasions or adventures most people honestly love and relish deeply are the ones where they are alone with Mother Nature…our universal energy…God. This too is the time I appreciate the most, time to reflect, time for peace, time for healing and time for growth. I’ve been moving so frequently lately that I have neglected my favorite part of traveling…and it’s taken a tole…but in the last few days I had the chance to catch up a little. The adventures & wonderful times I’ve shared with so many new friends have made my time alone that much sweeter. I feel truly blessed about this. I need to remind myself that throughout this voyage back home I need to make my alone time a priority. After all this is truly the time I feel I’m not alone…because she’s with me.
